As part of my campaign for the seat of Oxley, I visited both the Akubra factory and the Nestle factory. These factories are vital local employers and Akubra, in particular, is an iconic Australian brand. My message to the Nationals “Gtt off us, get off our workers, get off our businesses”. We need more support in the form of tax relief and affordable energy. Without these measures, it is difficult for manufacturers to remain in the local area, as high energy costs, taxes and a lack of affordable housing make it hard for them to compete. When elected, I will take action to address these issues and fight to reduce energy costs and taxes for businesses, as well as advocate for better housing, roads, healthcare and education for workers. It is important to retain local jobs and I will work to make sure that happens.
